Cincinnati Neighborhoods District Two (east)

Cincinnati Neighborhoods District Two (east) 800 800 Cincinnati Real Estate | Rock N Roll Real Estate Team

Cincinnati is divided into five districts and each district into smaller neighborhoods. District Two includes East Walnut Hills, Evanston, Hyde Park, Oakley, Madisonville, Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, Columbia-Tusculum, Linwood, Mount Lookout, Mount Washington, East End, and California. We’ll cover the last six Cincinnati Neighborhoods District Two in this blog. This area predominately includes the eastern sections of historic Cincinnati.

Columbia-Tusculum  (Cincinnati Neighborhoods District Two)

Columbia-Tusculum is the oldest neighborhood in Cincinnati. With the elegance of old San Francisco, Columbia-Tusculum is home to Victorian era painted ladies. Many of the newer homes echo this elegance, but with modern amenities including garages. Other homes are stand-alone Ohio style two-stories and executive style homes. It is a busy, beautiful neighborhood with many restaurants and Alms Park. This 95-acre park offers some incredible views of the Ohio River.

Mount Lookout

Mount Lookout takes its name from Mount Lookout Observatory. Built in 1873, the observatory is the oldest observatory open to public. This neighborhood is a collection of stunning executive style homes built to fit into the neighborhood, and older well-loved and cared-for homes, many with wide verandas. It has a bustling business district with lots of specialty shops and restaurants.

Linwood edges between Mount Lookout and East End. It is a very small neighborhood and includes parts of Otto Armlader Memorial Park and Recreation Complex and Reeves Golf Course. Much of the town is business district. The tiny residential neighborhood, about 900 people, is composed of older homes and huge trees.

East End

East End runs along the Ohio River and then swings north toward Linwood.  Cincinnati Municipal Airport – Lunkin Field takes up much of the neighborhood. Most homes are older and build to overlook the Ohio River. You’ll find a new gated community and land available for custom built homes.

California or Grove Park is home to Coney Island Amusement Park, Riverbend Music Center and California Woods Nature Preserve. Older homes are sited on large lots.

Mount Washington

Mount Washington is north of California and is the farthest eastern neighborhood. The neighborhood offers a wide variety of homes, from 20th Century (all the decades!) to million-dollar estates. It is a beautiful, treed community in the rolling hills.
