Ohio River and Ohio to Erie Trails

Ohio River and Ohio to Erie Trails 800 800 Cincinnati Real Estate | Rock N Roll Real Estate Team

If you’d like a challenging trail for walking, biking, inline skating or wheel chairing, check out the Ohio River Trail and the Ohio to Erie Trail. While both trails are under construction, there is enough to use without breaks. In fact, you can ride the trail for weeks and not see the same piece twice!

Ohio River Trail

Right now, the Ohio River Trail is 7.6 miles long. Eventually, it will be 23 miles and connect into the much longer Ohio to Erie Trail. The Ohio River Trail is in three sections. All run along the Ohio River from I-71 east to Five Mile Road near I 275. You’ll travel through parks along the Ohio River. Enjoy the view across the river into Kentucky and stop for museums and ball parks along the way. It is a beautiful trip and the riverscape is always changing.

Ohio to Erie Trail

The Ohio to Erie Trail is a whopping 320 miles. You can also ride horses and cross-country ski this trail. From ODNR River Access Park near Linwood to London, the path (83 miles) is complete. When it is finished, you will be able to travel all the way to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath in Cleveland.
The southern part of the trail has a lot of links to the shorter trails or to ones described in this post. This trail will give you a sense of all the diversity in our state’s landscapes from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the wide-open prairie grasslands of Central Ohio to the bluffs of southern Ohio.
The late Ed Horton envisioned this trail. It stands as a monument to his vision and hard work.
If you’d like to live near either of these trails, let me know. I’d be happy to find you the perfect home where you can visit these unique amenities!
