Buying a home is more affordable than renting in 57.7% of U.S. counties analyzed, especially in the Midwest (81.5%) and South (66.3%). In contrast, renting is more affordable in over half of Northeastern counties and more than 80% of Western counties. Despite this, most people spend at least one-third of their wages on housing, whether buying or renting. Affording the initial home deposit remains a significant challenge due to rising home prices.
